Many people are experiencing leg cramps during sleep and they are a common problem that tortures them. They are unexpected and rapid muscle spasms or contractions, that can be felt in thighs, feet, and calves.
Usually, they are happening after the person falls asleep or just before they open their eyes in the morning. However, the pain they cause can be quite intense and can last up to a few minutes.
When it disappears, the muscles are still tight and thinner and are quite sensitive to touch and to shake movements.
However, leg cramps and restless leg syndrome are not the same. That is, if you move your legs during cramps, you will experience greater pain. While in the case of restless legs syndrome, people feel relaxed when they move their legs.
