Until now, the exact cause of ovarian cancer is still unknown. However, experts believe that in general, cancer cells develop from mutations or changes in DNA.

DNA functions to regulate the workings of cells in our body. However, DNA that is problematic or mutated can cause the growth of cells to be out of control. This condition has the potential to trigger the growth of cancer cells and spread to other body organs.

It is suspected that ovarian cancer starts from cells located at the end of the fallopian tube, and does not always begin in the ovary. However, this allegation still needs further research.
