Ovarian Cancer is one of the deadliest forms of female reproductive cancer. It is challenging to detect, especially in the early stages. One of the main reasons being their location. The ovaries are two small, almond-shaped organs present on either side of the uterus located deep within the abdominal cavity.
The symptoms are similar to many other, usually less dangerous conditions. But, anyone experiencing unexplained pelvic or abdominal symptoms that are severe and last for more than two weeks, or do not go away with primary care, should see the doc ASAP.
The good news is if ovarian cancer is caught early, an overwhelming majority of patients, as many as 94%, live longer than five years, according to the American Cancer Society. The irony is, only 20% of ovarian cancers are detected early.
It is, therefore, a good idea for ones with a strong family history of breast, ovarian, uterine, or colon cancer to go for regular checkups to avoid any sudden distress. Here’s a list of symptoms which, if remain persistent, might ring a warning bell.
